Description
  • Industrial factories in the European Union are influenced by many legislative factors which have a purpose to protect the environment. This paper deals with identifying and summing up a complete set of these environmental effects. The original purpose is to keep the sustainable development on the earth. They also have a substantial influence on the economic performance of the company. Many decision-making problems for the manufacturers can be identified within managing the environment factors. The base one is whether it is better to pay the fees because of the higher amount of produced waste or to invest in a new cleaner technology. The greatest interest is focused on the main tool of the EU’s environmental policy – the Emission Trading Scheme system (EU ETS) where the allowances for CO2 are redistributed and traded. The aim of this paper is to summarize all costs coming from the EU ETS and other environmental factors for Czech industrial companies. The summary of this study is the fact that environmental effects must be involved into manufacturing companies’ management at all levels. This can be a source of the competitive advantage as well as a reason for the decrease of companies. These facts are supported by figures of chosen iron and steel manufacturing companies operating in the Czech Republic.
