Description
  • The aim was to verify the compatibility of results achieved by the controlled laboratory rolling and cooling with the plastometric testing of steel 23MnNiCrMo52. The work was performed in the laboratory rolling mill Tandem and on the torsion plastometer SETARAM. The finish rolling temperatures were chosen in the range of 750 - 1000 °C. The cooling from the finish rolling temperature simulated the retarded cooling in the Garret coilers, which are used in Třinecké železárny a.s. The final structure of the investigated steel was in all cases created by ferrite, bainite and islands of martensite. The results gained by the tensile test showed a considerable dependence of strength and elongation of the investigated steel on the finish rolling temperature, whereas yield point was influenced only mildly. In the case of measured values of microhardness, a very good accordance of these values after both ways of forming was found, regardless of the high order strain rate achieved in rolling.
