Description
  • It is evident from references that the addition of mainly iron chloride to coal before carbonisation has a dehydrogenating effect, influences the course of polycondensational reactions in the way of getting demanded products, speeds up mesophase growth, inhibits formation of tar, enhances the yield of carbon and what is also important, the addition improves the resultant properties. In this work we have concentrated on investigating of the addition effects of other chlorides. For experiments we used solutions of calcium-, potassium-, sodium-, barium-, magnesium-, chromium-, manganese-, zinc-, cupric-, lead- aluminium- and bismuth chloride. The solutions were prepared with different concentrations. We impregnated the dried samples and then carbonised them in a special coking retort with heating rate 3°C/min. The final temperatures of carbonisation varied from 600 to 850°C. Volatile products were collected to establish mass balance of this process. After carbonisation we investigated the resultant pr
