Description
  • The level of employee performance is basically conditioned by correlation of three fundamental factors: (1) knowledge and skills, (2) workplace and organization conditions, (3) motivation. The motivation represents an important constituent of the correlation and this paper has concentrated on this factor. The first part of the paper briefly characterizes the issue of the employee performance by reviewing the standing literature on the subject. The second part has focused on employee benefits that were investigated in two industrial regions of the Czech Republic – the Regions of Ostrava and Most. The mining industries dominated in both these regions and although the industries were substantially restructured, they still play major roles in the regional economies. The investigation was performed in compliance with a standard method. The questionnaire responses provided for the empirical data with the total non-probability sample size of 800 respondents. We have ascertained that the respondents preferred material benefits to intangible ones. The highest rate benefits were those of extra monthly pays (13th and 14th salaries), additional rights to holiday, and employer’s contribution to supplementary pension insurance schemes. The investigation results are presented by descriptive charts.
