Description	In the year 1959, polished sections of coal matter analysed micropetrographically began to be systematically documented by photographs at VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava. Thanks to this activity, the archives of about 8 000 photographs unique in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Basin exist at present. In the framework of the grant, GAČR No. 105/01/0325, titled in English %22Chemical and Physical Properties of Seams of the Czech Part of the Upper Silesian Basin from the Point of View of the Long-Term Outlook for the Base of Raw Materials in the Czech Republic%22 it was decided to digitise these photographs and connect their images to a database containing the description of the photographs. Thus access to the photographs and their next processing will be easy. Simultaneously, the publishing of a representative book comprising a selection of the photographs and accompanying text is under discussion. Some of the photographs will be put as study material on the Internet via web pages (en) Od roku 1959 se na VŠB - TU Ostrava začalo systematicky s fotodokumentací nábrusů uhelné hmoty, u které se dělal mikropetrografický rozbor. Díky této práci dnes existuje archiv zhruba 8000 fotografií, který nemá v české části hornoslezské pánvi obdobu. Vrámci grantu GAČR č. 105/01/0325: %22Chemické a fyzikální vlastnosti slojí české části hornoslezské pánve z hlediska dlouhodobých perspektiv surovinové základny České republiky%22 bylo rozhodnuto tyto fotografie převést do digitální formy a napojit je na da tabázi obsahující jejich popis. Tím bude umožněn snadný přístup k fotografiím a jejich dalšímu zpracování. Zároveň se uvažuje o vydání reprezentativní publikace obsahující výběr z fotografií a doprovodný text. Část fotografií bude též umístěna na www stránkách jako studijní materiál
