Description	Currently the construction of low-power or passive houses has become a focus of interest, whereby the need for heating and electric power is reduced as much as possible. The trend of reducing the need for electric and heating power is also related to the trend for power independence and building so-called island systems. i.e. insulated energy systems that are independent of powering from public distribution networks. Quite often the island systems are powered from ecological, renewable sources where the energy budget is controlled in a balanced way using a smart control system. This paper presents the key results of creating an energy concept for a family house island system, a so-called Small Smart House built in the premises of the VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, in the Czech Republic.
