Description
| - The advent of modern computer technology allows for considering the transition from current structural reliability assessment methods applied in the codified design to probabilistic methods based on simulation technique and applicable in the designer's everyday work. Such transition would require re-engineering of the design procedure. This paper focuses on the advances in improving one of such methods, Simulation-Based Reliability Assessment SBRA, on mastering the Monte Carlo simulation technique, and on the introduction of non-traditional representation of all input values including loading. The problems related to the consequent definition of the Reference Values, RV, applied in the calculation of the probability of failure are addressed consideringthe expansion of SBRA from components to systems. The assessment of safety, serviceability and durability in the life-time range by comparing the calculated probability of failure Pf and the target probability Pd (contained in codes) is indicated consi
