  • Examination of radial electric field (Er ) profiles in the scrape-off layer (SOL) of ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) and JETrevealed large discrepancies between 2D fluid edge modelling and experiment. Experimental profiles of plasma potential (Vp) in the outer (low field) side of the plasma, obtained with reciprocating Langmuir probes, decay radially with electron temperature, Te, with the eEr/Te ratio being 1.5. In contrast, code simulated Er are fairly low in most of the SOL (compared with Te/e). Modelling with kinetic treatment of neutrals and drifts was performed using the SOLPS code for AUG cases and EDGE2D Nimbus for JET cases. The Te and Er discrepancies, as well as discrepancies between simulated and experimental parallel ion flows, raise a question of the validity of fluid codes for the plasma edge modelling and prompt the inclusion of kinetic effects into present day 2D fluid codes which assume strong collisionality.

  • Zkoumání profilů radiálního elektrického pole (Er) v okrajovém plazmatu tokamaků (SOL) ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) a JET prokázalo významné nedostatky mezi 2D tekutinovými modely a experimenty. Experimentální profily potenciálu plazmatu (Vp) na vnější straně tokamaku, získané rychlou pohyblivou Langmuirovou sondou, klesají radiálně s elektronovou teplotou (Te) s tím, že stále platí eEr/ Te 1.5. Naopak, simulované Er jsou mnohem menší ve většině SOL. Kinetické modelování neutrálů a driftů bylo provedeno kódem SOLPS pro AUG a kódem EDGE2D Nimbus pro JET. Nesrovnalosti v poměru eEr/Te, stejně jako mezi simulovanými a experimentálními paralelními iontovými toky, vyvolává otázku platnosti tekutinových kódů pro modelování okrajového plazmatu a naznačuje potřebu zahrnout kinetické efekty do současných 2D tekutinových kódů předpokládajících vysokou srážkovost.
