  • A Ni-Al pseudo-alloy powder was studied from the point of view of spheroidization during spraying by a water-stabilized plasma gun. The powder particles of irregular shape were conglomerates of elemental Ni and Al, the average Al content being 9.7 %. To conserve the shape and composition of particles flying in the plasma stream, these were trapped in liquid nitrogen. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray microanalysis were used to obtain information about particle shape and element distribution. Most plasma sprayed particles trapped in liquid nitrogen were composed of a Ni-Al alloy, where the Al content varied in a wide range. Spherical %22caps%22 composed of Al-oxide covered partially their surfaces. It follows that on the interface between molten Ni and Al, the interaction of both components gave rise to a Ni-Al alloy. On the contrary, if Al was exposed to air, it oxidized rapidly during the flight of the particles.

  • Byla sledována sféroidizace částic prášku pseudoslitiny Ni-Al při plazmovém stříkání. Střední množství Al bylo 9,7%. Částice pseudoslitiny obsahovaly oblasti složené z téměř čistých prvků Ni a Al. Experimentální výsledky ukazují, že jsou-li Ni a Al v kontaktu, mají za letu v proudu plazmatu tendenci vytvořit taveninu Ni-Al, ze které po ztuhnutí vznikne tuhý roztok Al v Ni v širokém rozsahu koncentrací Al.. Je-li však Al v bezprostředním styku s plazmatem, které po roztavení částic je už silně obohaceno vzdušným kyslíkem, tavenina Al oxiduje na taveninu Al2O3. Vzhledem k rozdílné hustotě tavenin slitiny a oxidu je při brzdění částic transportována tavenina oxidu po povrchu kapky taveniny slitiny k zadní části letící kapky a po ztuhnutí vytvoří přibližně kulový vrchlík o menším poloměru na povrchu větší kulovité částice slitiny Ni-Al. Sféroidizace pseudoslitiny Ni-Al tedy při plazmovém stříkání neznamená zároveň homogenizaci chemického složení. (cs)
