Description	Common features of preparation, evaluation, and application of polymer blends are the main subject of the chapter. The basic problems associated with the nonequilibrium phase structure and its coarsening, the effects of interfacial energy of components, the strategies of compatibilization of immiscible polymers, and methods of phase structure analysis are elucidated. Special attention is paid to mechanical properties of heterogeneous blends and their prediction. Commercially important types of polymer blends as well as recycling of commingled plastic waste are briefly discussed.
