  • Interactions between electrostatic complexes of a strongly charged polycation with sodium polymethacrylate and A.sup.l3+./sup.ions were studied using .sup.1./sup.H, .sup.27./sup.Al, .sup.23./sup.Na and .sup.35./sup.Cl NMR spectra, relaxations and diffusion experiments. Quite new type of competitive/cooperative interactions of the A.sup.l3+./sup. ions in the complex is evidenced. The ions partly substitute the polycation units and push them to the outer sphere of the complex particle but, at the same time, they stabilize the complex against both flocculation and dissolution by added monovalent salts.
