Description
  • The purpose of presented research was to examine possibilities of using Nonlinear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS) methods in dental investigations. NEWS approach was investigated experimentally with acousto-optic set-up based on the chirp-coded nonlinear ultrasonic time reversal (TR) concepts [1]. Complex internal structure of the tooth was analyzed by the TR-NEWS procedure adapted to tomography-like imaging of the tooth damages. Ultrasonic excitation exploiting intrinsic symmetries, such as TR invariance, reciprocity, and correlation properties has been proposed and implemented in experiments.
