Description
  • The study primarily aims to describe propagation of stress waves in a cylindrical tube having four spiral slots in its middle part. The stress waves are induced by axial impact loading. The case is studied numerically by means of finite element analysis (FEA) and experimentally (EXP) with the intention to describe the time distribution of the strain pattern and evaluate subsequently the energy constituents associated with individual strain modes. Attention is devoted to FEA and EXP data comparison with the intention to assess the validity of both approaches and to study the spatial as well as temporal energy distribution in the tube.
