  • Lipofilní základní elektrolyty sestávající z lipofilního kationtu a lipofilního aniontu jako např. tetradodecylammonium tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl) borát (ETH 500) nebo bis(triphenylphosphoranylidene) ammonium tetrakis[3,5bis(trifluoromethyl) phenyl] borát (BTPPATFPB) byly přidány do membrán iontově selektivních elektrod (ISE) za účelem snížení jejich detekčního limitu, zlepšení selektivity a snížení odporu membrány. Spektroelektrochemická mikroskopie (SpECM) byla v kombinaci s chronopotenciometrií použita ke kvantifikaci vlivu lipofilního základního elektrolytu na koncentrační profil vyvolaný uvnitř proudem polarizované membrány a na dynamiku potenciálových změn sledovaných při chronopotenciometrických měření. Přítomnost lipofilního základního elektrolytu v membránách plastifikovaných o-NPOE nebo DOS snižuje, v souladu s teoretickým modelem, membránový odpor a tím příspěvek migrace k celkovému transportu přes membránu.
