  • Role můstkového ligandu boptz2-, jenž zahrnuje donorovou i akceptorovou funkci, byla vyšetřována v kombinaci s elektronicky odlišnými doplňkovými ligandy (donorový acac-, mírně .pi.-akceptorový bpy, silně .pi.-akceptorový pap) s použitím cyklické voltametrie, spektroelektrochemie a EPR spektroskopie pro několik dostupných redox stavů. Bylo zjištěno, že kombinace oxidačních stavů kov/ligand/kov zůstávají v některých případech neměnné při změně vedlejších ligandů, avšak tři isoelektronické paramagnetické struktury Ru(.mu.-boptz)Ru vykázaly významné rozdíly. Vynikající tolerance bpy koligandu pro RuIII i RuII je demonstrována přijetím formy se smíšenou valencí v [L2Ru(.mu.-boptz)RuL2]3+, L = bpy, zatímco příslušný systém s pap stabilizuje RuII stavy a poskytuje fenoxyl radikálový ligand a sloučenina s L = acac- obsahuje dvě RuIII centra spojená tetrazinovým anion-radikálovým můstkem.   • The role of the both donor and acceptor functions containing boptz2- bridging ligand has been investigated in combination with the electronically different ancillary ligands (donating acac, moderately .pi. accepting bpy, strongly .pi. accepting pap) using cyclic voltammetry, spectroelectrochemistry and EPR spectroscopy for several accessible redox states. Metal/ligand/metal oxidation state combinations were found to remain invariant to ancillary ligand change in some instances, however, three isoelectronic paramagnetic cores Ru(.mu.-boptz)Ru howed remarkable differences. The excellent tolerance of the bpy co-ligand for both RuIII and RuII is demonstrated by the adoption of the mixed valent form in [L2Ru(.mu.-boptz)RuL2]3+, L = bpy, whereas the corresponding system with pap stabilises the RuII states to yield a phenoxyl radical ligand and the compound with L = acac- contains two RuIII centers connected by a tetrazine anion radical bridge.
