  • This contribution deals with mathematical modeling of copolymerization reaction and transport in porous and polymeric phase in the spatially three-dimensional model of porous polyolefin particle. One of the aims of this work is to show that the transport limitations play an important role not only in the early stages of the particle growth, but also in the big particles in the advanced stage of their growth. Modeling is compared and validated by experimental and industrial data. Spatially 3D structure of polyolefin particles is obtained both by the digital reconstruction from the X-ray micro-tomography data and by the generation of artificial particles with bidisperse granular morphology, which is the simplest morphology allowing fitting of the experimental data. X ray tomography of porous polyolefin particles was conducted on four different apparatuses including synchrotron. Several algorithms were developed or adapted in order to perform the computations of stationary and dynamic transport processes
