Description	Měření adsorpčních koeficientů přenosu hmoty v sterilní náplni biofiltrů (cs) Biofiltration is a useful method to consider for the clean-up of airstreams loaded with odours and volatile organic compounds (VOC). It is especially appropriate for situations with high air rates, low inlet concentrations and biologically degradable substances. The biofilter is a packed bed reactor, where the VOC's are removed in a aqueous bio-layer surrounding a solid particle. At steady state, the removal rate is governed by absorption (and diffusion) and biological reaction. However, at unsteady conditions, we also need to know about the rate of adsorption onto the packed bed materials.This paper will outline some experimental work on dry and sterilised biofilter beds to adsorb styrene onto perlite and also acetone onto perlite. Clearly, the dryness eliminates absorption processes and the sterility removes any possibility of bio-degradation. Hence, any removal of the incoming VOC is because of adsorption onto the bed.
