Description	In the years 1992-1998 eight beef cattle breeds (Angus, Blonde d´ Aquitaine, Charolais, Czech Pied, Hereford, Limousin, Piemontese and Simmental) were tested and the birth weight, 210-day and 365 day weight, as well as the appropriate average daily gains were analysed by means of the least squares method. The comparison of breeds and traits was based on the overall means (m) and phenotypic standard deviations (sP). Genetic standard deviations were used to compare the genetic variability of breeds. (en) V letech 1992-1998 bylo analyzováno osm plemen masného skotu, a to plemeno Angus, Blonde d´ Aquitaine, České strakaté, Hereford, Charolais, Limousin, Piemontese a Simmental se zřetelem na hmotnost telat při narození, ve 210 a 365 dnech, jakož i průměrné denní přírůstky v těchto časových obdobích pomocí metody nejmenších čtverců. K porovnání plemen mezi sebou bylo použito obecných průměrů (m) a fenotypových standardních odchylek (sP). Genetické standardní odchylky byly použity k porovnání genetické proměnlivosti mezi plemeny.
