Description
  • Isoflavones (3-phenyl chromones) are phytoalexins abundant in the Fabaceae, however their biosynthesis was described in over 20 other families, e.g. Rosaceae, Iridaceae, Asteraceae, Poaceae. Recently, we have found isoflavonoids in the Rutaceae family. Here we present isoflavonoid patterns of eight representatives from the genera Ruta (namely R. graveolens and R. montana) and Citrus (five species including two cultivars of C. paradisi). EXPERIMENTAL: Tested plant material (leaves from apical branches) was collected from plants growing in subtropical greenhouse of the Institute of Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture of the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague (ITSA CUA in Prague). The samples were frozen immediately after collecting and kept in –20 °C until lyophilized. A limited number of samples were divided to two aliquots of which one was dried in laboratory temperature in shadow. Dry samples were pulverized and extracted using ethanol/water 8:2 (v/v) as the extraction solvent. The extracts
