Description	The large-sized broadleaved planting stock produced by an innovative nursery technology is tested in the Jizerské hory Mts. which experienced a massive forest decline due to air pollution. The contribution describes the planting stock as well as the techniques of its introduction to the coniferous stands that need to be diversified in terms of species composition and age structure. Preliminary outcomes of the research on the growth performance of the saplings in relation to the common-sized planting stock are included. Rowan serves as an example: the mean annual increments during the initial period after planting of the common-sized plants and saplings were 8.1 and 15.6 cm, respectively. The difference is significant. The values of the overall mortality rate were 2.5% and 2.4%, respectively. The bare-rooted saplings produced by the innovative technology seem to be a prospective planting stock complementing the use of common-sized plants under harsh conditions.
