Description
| - We analyse climate change impacts on growth and natural mortality of forest tree species, forest carbon balance and spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus) development in the Beskids. Relative changes in total volume production, volumes of dead trees, and change of growing stock between the beginning and end of all three simulation periods are described. Carbon cycle related simulations were performed using the BIOME-BGC model. Simulations based on four climate models combined with the prescribed CO2 concentration and nitrogen deposition scenario indicate that the carbon sequestration capacity of model forest stands might decline, but the forests are likely to remain net CO2 sinks in future.
