  • Capacitance principle based technique can be used for forage material mass determination in order to utilize obtained data for yield maps creation. A parallel plate capacitor operating at 27 MHz frequency was designed for our measurement. The capacitor was a part of an experimental oscillating circuit. The static laboratory measurements were carried out in summer 2005 with different forage crops at different maturity stages, at different levels of moisture content and with different sample weights. Measurements were carried out with material water content within the range which is common for real harvesting conditions (i.e. 85 – 40 %). The capacitor output data were further processed. The results showed that there is a strong relationship between the weight of material and output sensor’s signal and it is possible to recommend this experimental method for further research and development.
