Description
  • The main aim of our research described in this paper was to find a non-contacting method for forage material mass determination based on capacitance sensor technique. This could be useful for the aim of forage yield maps creation. A parallel plate capacitance sensor integrated into a specially designed electric circuit was built for our measurements. The sensor - capacitor and the whole oscillating circuit was driven at 27 MHz frequency. The static laboratory measurements were carried out from July till September 2005 with different forage crops at different maturity stages, at different levels of moisture content and at different sample weights. The results showed that there is a relatively strong linear relationship between the weights of forage crop material and measuring circuit output voltage up to 400 g of sample weight. Coefficients of determination achieved varied from 0.87 to 0.98. The results of the measurement were not influenced by the type of harvested material while the material moistur
