  • Microbial biomass nitrogen and carbon were studied in long-term field experiments with crop rotation. Positive effect of organic fertilisers on the microbial biomass nitrogen and carbon content in soil was observed. Statistical significant effect of organic fertilizers on the higher content of microbial biomass C and N was established the first year after their application. In the course of application the content of microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen decrease, but there are higher biomass C and N contents compared to control without statistical significance. There were positive correlation between microbial biomass nitrogen, microbial biomass carbon and extractable nitrogen when organic fertilizers were applied. A negative effect on microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen content in soil came from application of mineral nitrogen fertilisers in experiments with maize.
