  • In the field trials on five localities in the CR in the years 2004-2005 the effect of selected factors and the effect of yellow- and purple- fleshed varieties on ascorbic acid (AA) and total polyphenols (TP) content was assessed. AA content in average of nine varieties reached the value 1703 mg kg-1 FW and was demonstrably affected by the genotype of variety and locality conditions. Among five localities the highest AA content on the locality in lowland region (174 m a. s.) with the warmest and dry climate and light-textured soils was determined. In the case of total polyphenols no significant difference among localities was found, but the tendency to higher TP (by 9-22% as compared with other localities) on the locality Stachy, which had connection with apparently lower temperature during vegetation period in this locality.
