Description
  • Both species known from the Czech Republic have been found in Podyjí NP. One of them is widespread in the Palaearctic Region, the other has been only known from Central Europe. In Podyjí NP, A. leucopeza and A. pappi were rather frequently collected (both in 6 samples) often together (in 4 samples), mostly by means of Malaise traps. This fact indicates that these species are vagile and can fly throughout forests. Interestingly, both species were also found in an emergence trap in the locality 1/02 (Ledové sluje, lowland wood) but only in the period 31.viii.-29.ix.; these specimens probably emerged from pupae of second generation adults, which overwinter in hollows of trees (cf. PAPP 1998b). None of these species are considered endangered in terms of species conservation; however, this may be true for a third taxon known from Central Europe, viz. Aulacigaster falcata Papp, 1998, a thermophilous species hitherto unrecorded but probable in the Czech Republic (in southern Moravia in particular)
