Description
  • In a pot experiment on heavy textured, acid soil the effect of form and dose potassium fertiliser on Zn and Cu uptaking by oats and maize under conditions of elevated cadmium content in soil was investigated against the background of basic NPK treatment. Potassium was applied in two doses as sulphate or chloride. It was found that heavy metals content in plants tissues was affected both by form and dose of potassium salts, which confined or intensified metals uptaking by plants as a result of influence on solubility and absorption their compounds from soil. Potassium sulphate caused reduction of metals translocation from roots to aerial parts of the plant and improved fodder quality of plants products. Higher Cd level in soil modified Zn and Cu content as a result its influence on plant development and yielding, and on synergism or competition between cations.
