Description	Positive effect of the transgenic plant on Cd accumulation was confirmed in a model pot experiment with two various polluted soils where tobacco plants had been cultivated for 3 months. The content of Cd in the above ground biomass of transgenic tobacco cultivated on non-polluted soil increased by 75% compared to the control and by 45% on polluted soil. The results showed the high Cd accumulation ability of the His-CUP construct and confirmed a good chance to prepare improved transgenic plants for phytoremediation purposes.
