  • An experiment was conducted to determine the influence of time of oviposition on egg quality characteristics and performance of laying hens. ISA brown hens from 20 to 64 weeks of age were used in this study. Eggs were collected daily at three-ovipositiontimes 06:00, 10:00 and 14:00 hr. Every four weeks, 30 eggs for each ovipostiton time were used for egg examination. The results indicared that the greatest percentage of the normal, nonstandard and craced eggs were laid in the early morning (P?0,01). Ti me of oviposition influenced signifikantly (P?0,01) in egg weight, shell percentage and Haugh Units and non-significantly in shell strengh. The heaviest eggs were laid in the early morning (06:00 hr) and the egg weight at 10:00 and 14:00 were 60.64 and 60.02g respectively. Haugh Units were higher in eggs laid in the afternon at 14:00 hr (76.87) and it significantly decreased at 10:00 hr (74.23) and at 06:00 hr (73.88).
