Description
  • The objective of this trial determinate the attained live weight influence on the growth, fattening capacity and lean meat percentage production in the pigs at the start of finishing. For that purpose 72 pigs of genotype (OLW x BL) x LW x L) at the average 24,48 kg live weight, and 73 days of age have been tested in the test station during 105 days. All pigs have been divided into 3 groups with respect to achieved live weight at the start of the test. The 1st group was the pigs weighing less 22 kg. The 2nd on was in the range from 22 to 24 kg and the 3th one was over 24 kg live weight. The housing of the animals followed the methodology for testing of purebred and hybrid pigs complying with the principle of two pigs per pen (one barrow + one gilt). There where fed ad libitum using self-feeders (Duräumat) by the common feeding mixtures. The lean meat share in live animals was monitored by the help of ultrasound apparatus Sonomark SM100.
