Description
  • We found altogether 21 species of the family Psilidae in the study area, representing 60 % of the total Czech fauna (61.8 % of the fauna of Bohemia). The most species found are European in distribution (6 species, 28.6 %), followed by temperate and NorthEuropean (5 species, 23.8 %) and temperate European (3 species, 14.3 %). The finding of L. (Platystyla) hoffmannseggi (Duchcov, floodplain wood, 23. vii. - 21. viii. 1998, Malaise trap, 1 female) represents the first record of this very rare species in Bohemia. Several species are distinctly thermophilous (Chamaepsila persimilis), other more hydrophilous and psychrophilous (Chamaepsila obscuritarsis). The species of the genus Loxocera are rather sciophilous and hygrophilous. Most of the species found develop in grasses, only a few live in flower heads and fruits (Chamaepsila nigricornis, C. persimilis) and even in roots of Apiaceae (Chamaepsila rosae). Species of the genus Chyliza develop in damp wounds in branches of trees, especially oaks (oak cance
