Description
  • Altogether 22 species of Sepsidae were found in the study area, representing 84.6 % of all known Czech fauna of this family (88 % of the fauna of Bohemia). Broadly distributed species prevail in our samples, most species being Holarctic in distribution (8 species, 36.4 %), followed by Palaearctic ones (7 species, 31.8 %). Smaller proportion belongs to temperate and North European species (3 species, 13.6 %), European ones (2 species, 9.1 %) and both temperae European and Cosmopolitan species (1 species each, 4.5 %). Only the three species known from Bohemia were not found, viz Meroplius minutus, Saltella nigripes and Sepsis biflexuosa. S. nigripes is species with southern distribution and, its areal probably does not reach Northwest Bohemia. The other two are very rare in Bohemia. I know S. biflexuosa from only four localities in Bohemia (Praha - Lhotka, Nový Hradec Králové, Uhlířské Janovice and Čejkov nr. Pelhřimov) and M. minutus from 11 localities in Bohemia. The occurrence of both in Northwest Bo
