  • The decreasing level of teaching in secondary schools in the Czech Republic (CR) is often discussed though it can be very hardly objectively measured. Nowadays, the population years entering universities in CR are relatively week. Thus there is a greater chance to get to the university study for less talented students with worse bent for study, too. For such students, the self-study and logical thinking is more demanding, and the transition to the university brings high requirements in both for such students. This paper is aimed to assess and compare study results in courses based on the knowledge of basic mathematical methods and techniques, i.e. focused on statistics and operations research. The information source related to the observed issue was a questionnaire survey. The data analysis was performed using one-dimensional and two-dimensional statistical methods focused on quantitative variables.
