Description
  • The modal analysis plays an important role in health monitoring of various structures. The main goal is focused on the possibility of experimental detection of natural frequencies in order to assess the technical condition of the given structure. The experiment is performed on the cantilever beam which is frequently found in construction, notably in cantilever bridges. In the case of measurements when the beam stiffness is relatively low (which is quite frequent in laboratory measurements), it is necessary to take into account the impact of accelerometer weight on the measured frequency. Non-contact vibration measurement based on Doppler effect seems to be suitable alternative. Experimental data obtained using standard accelerometer and laser Doppler vibrometer are compared with simulation results achieved using ANSYS computing environment.
