Description
  • Genealogy, population structure and population dynamics of the sucking louse Polyplax serrata were analyzed across four host species of the genus Apodemus. An analysis of 126 sequences of COI gene using phylogenetic approaches and haplotype networking revealed a clear structure of European samples, forming three distinct clades with different host specificities. Although a clear connection could be detected between the host and parasite genealogies, it was not expressed in any uniform %22cospeciation%22 form. For example, a dramatic shift in the degree of host specificity was demonstrated for two louse lineages living in sympatry and sharing one of their host species. While one of the louse lineages frequently parasitizes two different host taxa (A. sylvaticus and A. flavicollis), the other lineage was strictly specific to A. flavicollis only. The estimate of divergence time between the two lineages indicates that they may have arisen due to parasite duplication on the A. flavicollis host.

  • Genealogie, populační struktura a dynamika vši Polyplax serrata byla studována u populací ze čtyř hostitelských druhů r. Apodemus. Analýza 126 sekvencí mitochondriálního genu pro COI, rekonstrukcí fylogeneze a haplotypových sítí, odhalila jasnou strukturu v rámci Evropy, kde byly nalezeny tři sympatrické linie vší. (cs)
