| - A total of 2816 unfed adults or nymphs of Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected from vegetation in Kosice area from 1994 to 1997. Prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi s. 1. in I. ricinus ticks depended upon the year and the habitat of the collected ticks. The lowest prevalence was observed in 1994 (4.8%). During 1995 it increased to 17.2% and during the next two years decreased to 15.5% and 14.2%. The rate of infection varied from 2.1 to 23.3%. Relative density of ticks in various habitats ranged from 9-212 ticks per collecting hour within one flagged area (600 m(2)) which is 1.5-35.5 ticks per 100 m(2). Eight isolates were obtained from the infected ticks. Three were identified as B. burgdorferi s.s., three B. garinii and two as a mixed infection with B. burgdorferi s.s. and B. garini and B. afzelii respectively. The obtained results emphasize the epidemiological importance not only of B. garinii and B. afzelii but also of B. burgdorferi s. s. in Central Europe.

- V oblasti Košic bylo v letech 1994 – 1997 sebráno z vegetace celkem 2816 nenasátých dospělců nebo nymf Ixodes ricinus. Prevalence Borrelia burgdorferi s.l. v klíšťatech závisela na roku sběru klíšťat a habitatu. Nejnižší prevalence byla v roce 1994 (4,8%). V roce 1995 vzrostla na 17,2% a během dalších dvou let poklesla na 15,5% a 14,2%.Hodnoty prevalence byly v rozpětí 2,1 - 23,3%. Relativní denzita klíšťat na různých lokalitách kolísala od 9 do 212 klíšťat na hodinu sběru z jedné vlajkované plochy (600 m(2)), což obnáší 1,5 – 35,5 klíšťat na 100 m(2). Z infikovaných klíšťat bylo získáno 8 izolátů. Tři byly identifikovány jako B. burgdorferi s.s., tři B. garinii a dva jako směsná infekce B. burgdorferi s.s. a B. garinii nebo B. afzelii. Získané výsledky podtrhují epidemiologickou významnost nejen B. garinii a B. afzelii, ale též B. burgdorferii s.s. ve střední Evropě. (cs)
