  • With the increasing production and concentration of animals immunity is worsening. An appreciation of the immunity status is actualizing particularly the breeding condition has changed for instance exploitation of grazing. Among the routine useful parameters of the immunity belong phagocytic activity (PA) and phagocytic index (PI) of neutrophile granulocytes. PA is used as an indicator of therapeutic effect (1), or effect of metabolic disturbances (2). Changes associated with gravidity, delivery and lactation observed (3). An objective of this tudy was to evaluate an effect of grazing and seasons on status of PA, PI of neutrphile granulocytes. PA and PI were analyzed in dairy cows on two farms of the Czech red spotted breed with stanchion housing and comparable production. On the farm A cattle was during vegetation grazed while on the farm B was fed grasssilage. The mean values of PA 78,60+7,8 and 89,5+6,6 % were on both farms higher than values published (3) 67,3+7,2 % but related to lactation on hig
