Description	Insufficient iodine and selenium intake in cattle and sheep fed roughage of local harvests was repeatedly documented by prevalence of thyreopaties and muscle dystrophy and low levels of these trace elements in blood, urine, and milk. In the last five years, published data regarding these findings and rich supply of commercial minerals contributed to increase attention of breeders to supplementation of iodine and selenium mostly on farms with bigger herds. More than 250 commercial mineral mixtures of 9 producers have been the most often supplements that have been used in feed rations in southern and western Bohemia in years 2000 and 2001. These mineral mixtures have been enriched with iodine and selenium in amount of 5-500 mg/kg and 3-60 mg/kg respectively. The largely recommended daily dosages of powdery mixtures have been 100g per animal and licks 50 g per animal, which reply to the daily intake of 5-10 mg of iodine and 3 mg of selenium per animal.
