Description
  • Common carp is undoubtedly one of the most cultured and domesticated fish all over the world. Using of genome manipulation methods may amend possibilities of modern genetics, which were discovered in the last century. Resultes of growth performance in polyploidic fish and monosexual populations in many cultured water species were published (e.g. Flajšhans et al., 1993; Benfey, 2001; Linhart et al., 2001; Pongthana, 1999; and others). Nevertheless, considering the proportion of annual production of other fish species and common carp, little is known about real growth performance of monosexual carp population compare to bisexual. The aim of this study is to match entire efficiency of both mentioned populations and to document the impact of rearing all-female carp populations in Central Europe conditions. The study was carried out at experimental station, University of South Bohemia, Research Institute of Fish Culture and Hydrobiology (USB RIFCH) in Vodňany. For this study we used 4 distinct common carp

(cs)
