Description	1+ rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss at a starting weight of 236#17 g (mean#SD) were studied over an 81-day period for the effect of astaxanthin on growth rate, total body length, body length, body height, body width, Fulton coefficient, the hepatosomatic index and some hematological and biochemical parameters of the blood plasma, including: red blood cell count, hematocrit, hemoglobin, mean cell volume, mean cell hemoglobin, mean cell hemoglobin concentration, urea, creatinine, uric acid, total protein, glucose, cholesterol, triacylglycerol, inorganic phosphate, calcium, sodium, potassium, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase and alpha-hydroxybutyryl dehydrogenase.
