  • It is well recognized that stress in the workplace adversely affects effectiveness, worker turnover and employee well-being. The Job Stress Survey (JSS) was designed (Spielberger, 1991) to assess the perceived severity and frequency of occurence of 30 job stressor events in a variety of occupational settings. A im of the study was to develop the Czech version of the JSS and to measure occupational stress in three Czech employee groups. Methods: THe JSS was administrated in 1056 respondents (383 managers, 349 clerical workers, 324 teachers). The additional tests (MCSD, STAXI, STAIX1 and STAIX2) were administrated in 211 respondents, due to concurrent validity could be studied. Differences in the perceived severity (%22Severity%22), frequency of occurence (%22Frequency%22), and overall level of occupational stress (%22Index%22) were evaluated by the SPSS statistical software Results: THe internal consistency for Severity, Frequency and Index was high for all groups (Crombach´s alpha ranged between .86 and .93).
