  • Aufgrund seiner geographischen Herkunft als Deutscher in Prag und aufgrund seiner schwieriger religiöser Sozialisation fühlte sich Rilke im Laufe seines Lebens als heimatlos. Zur Heimat wird ihm die deutsche Sprache und durch seine Reisen wird er zu einem europäischen Dichter im besten Sinne des Wortes. Seine lebenslange Gottsuche wird von einer doppelten Bewegung bestimmt. Auf der einen Seite wird das Christentum einer harschen Kritik unterzogen. Und auf der anderen Seiten begibt sich Rilke auf die unermüdliche Suche nach einem echten und unmittelbaren Gottesbezug, der nicht besitzergreifend ist und nicht sein darf.
  • Due to his family background as a German in Prague and his religious socialization was Rilke uprooted and homeless. The true home finds Rilke in the German language and he became a genuine European poet. Rilke's search for God shows an ambivalent attitude. On the one side Rilke criticizes the Christian tradition, on the other side search Rilke for an immediate and authentic relationship with God. (en)
