  • Der Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit der Auseinandersetzung zwischen Kloster in Branau und der Stadt am Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts, in dessen Hintergrund die Rekatholisierungs-Bemühungen des Abtes und die falsche Auslegung des Majestäts des Rudolphs II. auf religiöse Freiheit aus dem Jahre 1609 standen. Die Braunauer Bürger errichteten unberechtigt eine eigene evangelische Kirche und Schule und konnten beides bis zur Schlacht am Weißen Berg verteidigen. Die Kirche in Braunau wurde vor dem Anfang des Dreißigjährigen Krieges nicht gesperrt, wie bis heute häufig betont wurde und wird.
  • The article deals with disputes between Broumov monastery and city of Broumov at the beginning of the 17th century, behind which were: abbot's recatholicization efforts and Rudolph's misinterpreted Letter of Majesty from 1609 on Freedom of Religion. The citizens of Broumov illicitly set up their own evangelical church and school and also managed to defend them up to the events connected to the Battle of White Mountain. The Catholics failed to close the Broumov church before the outbreak of the Thirty Years' War, as it has been commonly stated and heretofore claimed. (en)
