Description	The work of Hél?ne Metzger is undoubtedly an important source of data on history of chemistry. The aim of this text is, however, to present the epistemological dimension of her work. Based on detailed knowledge on history of science she proposes certain epistemological claims not only concerning science itself, but also concerning the history of science. She contributes to create an epistemology of historiography of sciences, which is intended to be an alternative to positivistic approaches. She accepts Duhemian holism, as well as conviction about the underdetermination of theories by fact. This is then applied to interpretation of old scientific texts. She elaborates what she calls a philosophical method of history of science. (en) Dílo Hél?ne Metzgerové tvoří významný zdroj informací o dějinách chemie. Cílem textu je však představení jeho epistemologického rozměru. Na základě zkoumání dějin vědy Metzgerová formuluje epistemologické teze o vědeckém poznání obecně, ale vztahuje je i na práci historiků vědy. Vytváří tak epistemologii historiografie vědy, která má být alternativou k historiografii pozitivistické. Akceptuje duhemovský holismus i tezi o nedourčenosti teorie fakty, což vztahuje i na interpretace starých textů. Rozpracovává tak filosofickou metodu historiografie vědy, která se svými principy blíží hermeneutice. Dílo Hél?ne Metzgerové tvoří významný zdroj informací o dějinách chemie.
