Description
| - In this paper, various voltage control mechanisms have been tested on larger distribution network with high representation of photovoltaic power sources. For this, islanded version of IEEE 123-bus radial system has been chosen for time series of load flow calculations using the standard Newton-Raphson method. Loads and generations were considered as time-dependent with respect to load diagrams and weather conditions in selected locality and time of year. For voltage control of the tested distribution network, on-load tap-changing (OLTC) transformers, synchronous condensers and switched shunt capacitors have been applied. As the output of this paper, comprehensive analysis was made to provide enough information whether these voltage control procedures can ensure reliable operation of the network even through the worst-case scenarios around the year with all voltages within their operational limits or not.
