Description
| - Minithixoforming is the innovative technology, through which material properties and shape complexity of the small product can be obtained, which would be hardly ever reached by another conventional technology. It is semi-solid forming technology in the rapid solidification condition, which produces rather unconventional final microstructures. COnsidering the cact that one of the important aspects of the microstructure development is its initial state before the thixoforming, this experiment was focused on the influence of previous history of semi-processing. For the actual experiment ledeburitic tool stell X210Cr12 was chosen with high content of carbon and chronium, which has a good considered as states after hot rolling and subsewuent soft annealing with the hardness of 211 HV30 and another two different states after long-term annealing on grain coarsening. The first annealing was carried out at 1050°C for 24h and the second annealing time was extended to 48h. Long-term time annealing affected not only the matrix of the steel, but there was also an increase in hardness to 250 HV30, respectively 293 HV30. The structure of the material after thixoforming was composed of 96% of metastable austenite and by eutectic network, where its morphology reflects history of previous treatment. Microstructure analysis was carried out by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Phase fractions were determined by X-ray diffraction phase analysis.
