Description
  • The state of the surface layer and the used manufacturing process strongly influence the life of single components. By the fatigue loading, a small surface roughness and residual stresses put into the material during the whole production process can rapidly affect the final stress state. Determination of final stresses is quite difficult technical problem in practical conditions. An alternative possibility represents the application of the FEM simulation. In the paper, simulation models of the test specimen during the rotation bending test are presented. The stress fields in the specimen with real surface roughness and with integrated values of residual stresses experimentally measured using the X-ray diffraction are compared with the stress field in a specimen with ideally smooth surface.
