| - In 1997 and 1998, in total 972 spring accessions of wild barley were studied. The accessions originate from the Mediterranean region and are housed at the USDA-National Small Grains Collection Aberdeen, USA. In spring form of wild barley 225 accessions were resistant to all 22 European powdery mildew pathotypes and showed also high resistance in the field. In 1999, we started to study the winter part of wild barley. Out of 364 winter barley accessions tested in the greenhouse, 76 accessions were resistant to four pairs of pathotypes in the greenhouse as well as in the field. The collection we studied showed its richness and diversity in powdery mildew resistance. This is a result of long-term co-evolution of wild barley and the pathogen in the Mediterranean region, and particularly in Israel, where most accessions originated. It is apparent that the collection provides a sufficient amount of genetic resources for breeding new barley cultivars resistant to powdery mildew.

- V letech 1997 a 1998 bylo studováno celkem 972 jarních vzorků divokého ječmene. Vzorky pocházejí ze Středomořské oblasti a jsou uchovávány v USDA-National Small Grains Collection Aberdeen, USA. U jarní formy divokého ječmene bylo 225 vzorků rezistentních ke všem 22 evropským patotypům padlí travního a prokázalo také vysokou polní rezistenci. V roce 1999 jsme započali studium ozimé části divokého ječmene. Z 364 vzorků ozimého ječmene testovaných ve skleníku bylo 76 vzorků rezistentních ke čtyřem párům patotypů ve skleníku a také v poli. Studovaná kolekce prokázala svou bohatost a diverzitu v rezistenci k padlí travnímu. To je výsledek dlouhodobého společného vývoje divokého ječmene a patogena ve Středomořské oblasti a zvláště v Izraeli, odkud pocházela většina vzorků. Je zřejmé, že kolekce nabízí dostatečné množství genetických zdrojů pro šlechtění nových odrůd ječmene rezistentních k padlí travnímu. (cs)
