  • With advent of the image analysis it is simple to obtain very quickly the quantitative information about shape of fibres. Traditionally the fibre shape is quantified by the circularity, fullness or similar indexes. These indexes are not sufficient for coquite different cross sections the same values can be obtained or vice versa. The main aim of this contribution is to compare some measures of shape complexity based on the concept of fractal dimension with traditional measures. The fractal dimension of computed based on the box counting algorithms. The simulation of shapes for comparison of individual measures is based on the elliptical family of cross sections.
