| Description
| - An essential condition for managing any process is to establish a reliable system for measuring its parameters. The chapter explores the factors of reliability of the measurement system. Reliability of measurement is influenced by several factors: by the worker performing the measurements, by the measuring instrument used, by a sample selection of products, and by the work environment. The chapter answers questions regarding the variability of the measurement system. This variability can be broken down into the sum of the parts caused by repeatability and into the parts caused by the reproducibility factor. A method based on the calculation of individual components of the variability of the measurement system is known as the R&R method. The research covered in the book is focused on various ways using for calculation the particular R&R indicators: Range method, Average and range method and Analysis of variance (ANOVA) method. A specific attention is devoted to study a variant of the R&R method, the so called attributive R&R method, which is used when the result of evaluation is an alphabetical variable, usually an alternative variable. The research is based on real data from the plastics industry. As an output the methodology for assessment of visual defects in plastics industry is put forward. The monograph is the output of the EEIG/EU/P/Kr/11.65/12 international research project Increasing the efficiency of production processes..
